Escape from Reality
My wife and I are sitting here watching tv (Thursday nights on NBC). All of the best shows are on, like 30 Rock and The Office. There’s also two completely different medical shows, Scrubs and ER. Scrubs is pretty funny, and ER really keeps you riveted, but both shows are driving me bonkers tonight. Scrubs featured a woman who has decided to kill herself because she doesn’t want to suffer through her terminal disease, and ER featured a woman with a DNR, who is awake but on a ventilator, also wanting to end it rather than deal with her injuries. In both instances, the doctors keep their mouths shut and let it happen. I’m not really in a position to say what a person should or should not do in that situation, but it feels like Hollywood sure is pushing their beliefs pretty hard. All I can say is, with God at your side, you can endure all things. I hope people know and believe this more than Hollywood does.
